Equipping and supporting families through the adoption journey

Our Mission

Mi Yungs Prayer partners with adoptive parents by providing services, counseling, and financial consulting to break through barriers – ensuring adoption remains a viable option for families.

Rocks

Our Values

  • Transparency and consistent communication throughout the adoption process.
  • Providing families support and guidance.
  • Adoption should not be hindered because of finances.

Our Beliefs

Our prayer is that families are encouraged to:

  • "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
  • "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (CSB)
  • "Fathers (parents), don't stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." Ephesians 6:4 (CSB)
  • "Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children." Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)

We believe that children are a blessing:

  • "For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)
  • "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him." Psalms 127:6 (NLT)

Mi Yungs Prayer serves families who are adopting children, striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Our Founder

As the founder and Executive Director of Mi Yung’s Prayer—and an adoptee myself—I hold a deep and personal belief in the power of adoption. My heart has always been for the children who wait and the families who feel called to welcome them.

I was born in South Korea and lived with a caregiver until I was about six months old. I was later left at a conference center in Seoul, a place where abandoned babies were often found. From there, I was brought to an orphanage and became eligible for adoption. My adoptive parents chose me after receiving a letter and a photo. When I arrived in the United States, I was just over a year old and weighed only ten pounds. My adoption was finalized when I was a toddler.

Because of my parents’ love, nurturing, and the healing journey that followed, I received a strong Christian foundation. I believe children are a blessing and a gift from God, and as Ambassadors of Christ, we are called to “defend the cause of orphans” (Isaiah 1:17).

My adoption story is uniquely mine, and I recognize that every adoptee’s experience is different. Each story carries its own truth. My prayer is that Mi Yung’s Prayer will empower and support families who feel led to grow through adoption—and that every adoptee’s life is blessed through their journey.

Mi Yung’s Prayer is named after my Korean name, “Mi Yung,” honoring the full identity and journey of an adoptee.

We are launching this organization at a time when adoption rates appear to be declining. I see this not as a setback, but as a call to rise. Millions of children around the world still need loving families, and adoption remains a powerful way to give them hope and a future.

Thank you for taking this journey with me. — Julie Kula, MSW, LSW
